Heute wird er weltweit, besonders jedoch auf den Philippinen, Molukken und Madagaskar kultiviert. Die getrockneten Blütenknospen dieses Baumes werden als Gewürznelken gehandelt.
Räucherhinweis: Der typische intensiv-würzige Nelkenduft verträgt sich sehr gut mit Adlerholz, Elemi, Styrax, Benzoe und Weihrauch. Er läßt sich auch gut mit Muskatnuss und Zimt als stärkende Mischung modifizieren.
